Product Description:
British Frontline Footage Terrorism - Since the bombing of the King David Hotel in 1946 to the American hostage crisis in the late 1970s to the September 11th tragedy, acts of terrorism have become more prevalent. With technological advances, terrorism has become increasingly unpredictable and consequently more dangerous. With the suicide bomb, the very nature of terrorism changed. PLO terrorist groups such as Fatah, were protected and encouraged. The result saw hi-jacking, suicide raids, and hostage killings. Subsequently, many countries began developing counter terrorist teams to guard against left-wing anarchist groups looking for revolution, extreme fundamentalists seeking martyrdom, and those fighting for nationalism and separatist causes. Special Forces - The British SAS (Special Air Service) is one of the most heroic special forces teams in the world. Like the SBS (Special Boat Service), their efforts date back to the 1940s when they secretly went behind enemy lines to fight the Nazis and combat jungle warfare in Indonesia and Malaysia. Since then, the undercover operations of the SAS have included everything from border patrol in the jungle to preventing Marxist coups on Grenada. In 1980 the world watched as gunmen held 26 people hostage at the Iranian embassy in London. After a six-day stand off, the SAS stormed in with split-second timing and daring precision. After just 12 minutes, the rescue was complete and 21 hostages were saved. From south Georgia to the Congo, the missions of the SAS list a wide range of fine-tuned maneuvers, such as dangerous tree jumping and parachuting, to their credit.
